Answers in millimetres Back to top
(Width x Profile/100 x 2) + (rim size x 25.4) = height
Width is in millimetres, Profile is a 2 digit number, Rims size is in inches, Height is in millimetres.
Using 205/65-15 as an example;
(205 x 65/100 x 2) + (15 x 25.4) = 647.5 mm
Some Van tires will have different markings, for example 185R14.
In this case substitute the 'R' for a 82 Profile
(185 x 82/100 x 2) + ( 14 x 25.4) = 659 mm
Some 4x4 tires will have different markings, for example 31/10.5-15.
In this case all dimensions are in inches ( " );
Height is approximately 31" or 787 mm (31 x 25.4 = 787.4 mm),
Width is approximately 10.5" or 267 mm (10.5 x 25.4 = 266.7 mm),
Rim size is 15".
For a rough rule of thumb for these tyres, work out the Height or Width in mm and subtract 10 mm, this will be close to the real life Height or Width.
